Glacial Acetic Acid (GAA) is one of the most widely used auxiliaries in textile wet processing. Its primary role is to control pH and ensure stable dyeing conditions.
Used in reactive, disperse, acid, and direct dyeing processes.
Helps maintain the optimum slightly acidic pH (4–6) required for proper dye uptake.
Prevents dye hydrolysis and uneven shades.
Neutralizes residual alkali left on fabric after pre-treatment.
Improves fabric absorbency and prepares it for dyeing or finishing.
Provides controlled acidity that enhances dye–fiber bonding.
Improves color fastness, brightness, and reproducibility.
Helps dissolve or adjust viscosity of printing pastes.
Enhances color sharpness and definition in textile printing.
Reduces foaming in dye baths.
Acts as a buffering agent to stabilize pH throughout the dyeing cycle.
Ensures uniform dyeing
Improves shade consistency
Enhances dye penetration and fixation
Compatible with OEKO-TEX®, ZDHC, REACH requirements when using certified grades
Glacial Acetic Acid also plays important roles in natural rubber and latex processing.
GAA is commonly used as a coagulant to convert liquid latex into solid rubber sheets or blocks.
Produces cleaner, more uniform coagulated rubber compared to strong mineral acids.
Stabilizes latex by maintaining the correct acidic pH.
Helps prevent premature coagulation during storage and transportation.
Used as a reactant or solvent component in certain rubber adhesives.
Helps in polymer modification and bond enhancement.
Mild acidic nature helps clean metal parts, molds, and pipelines.
Removes mineral deposits and prevents microbial growth.
Slight acidity in the wash solution helps prevent mold growth and discoloration in freshly produced rubber sheets
